Publishing to X / Twitter

Connect your X account to schedule and publish tweets, threads, polls, and media directly from PostEverywhere.

Connecting your account​

  1. Go to the Accounts page
  2. Click Connect Account and select X / Twitter
  3. Sign in to your X account and authorize PostEverywhere
  4. You'll be redirected back and the account will appear in your list

Each X account is connected individually. To manage multiple X accounts, connect each one separately.

Content types​

Text posts​

  • Standard accounts: 280 character limit
  • Premium accounts: Up to 25,000 characters (validated server-side)
  • Text-only posts are supported — media is optional

Images​

  • Up to 4 images per post
  • Add alt text for accessibility (up to 1,000 characters per image)
  • Cannot combine images with video in the same post

Videos​

  • 1 video per post
  • Duration: 1–140 seconds
  • Videos are processed after upload — this can take up to 5 minutes
  • Cannot combine video with images in the same post

GIFs​

  • Treated as video media — 1 GIF per post

Platform-specific settings​

When creating a post, click the X tab in platform customization to access these options:

Reply settings​

Control who can reply to your tweet:

  • Everyone — anyone can reply
  • People you follow — only accounts you follow
  • Mentioned users — only people mentioned in the tweet

Polls​

Create a poll with your post:

  • Toggle polls on/off
  • 2–4 options
  • Set poll duration (5 minutes to 7 days)

Quote tweets​

Paste a tweet URL to create a quote tweet with your content attached.

First reply​

Add a reply that's automatically posted as the first response to your tweet. Useful for adding context, links, or hashtag lists without cluttering the main tweet.

Threads​

Create multi-tweet threads:

  • Write additional tweets that are posted as a chain
  • Each tweet in the thread follows the same character limit
  • Thread tweets are posted as replies to each other

Sensitive content​

Flag your post as containing sensitive content if applicable.

Tips​

  • Use the first reply feature to keep your main tweet clean while adding hashtags or links below
  • Threads are great for long-form content — break it into digestible tweets
  • Alt text on images improves accessibility and can help with search visibility
  • If your video is still processing, PostEverywhere will wait for it to finish before publishing
