Requirements

  • Your Instagram account must be a Professional (Creator) or Business account. Personal accounts cannot be connected.
  • To convert: go to Instagram Settings > Account > Switch to Professional Account.

Content types

Feed posts (images)

  • 1–10 images per post (carousel)
  • Add alt text for accessibility (up to 100 characters per image)
  • Caption up to 2,200 characters

Reels (video)

  • 1 video per post
  • Duration: 3–90 seconds
  • Vertical video recommended for best results
  • Processing may take up to 1 minute after upload

Stories

  • Available as a post type when creating content
  • Single image or short video

Trial Reels

  • A special Reel type for testing content with a smaller audience before publishing to your full feed

Media is required — Instagram does not support text-only posts.

Platform-specific settings

When creating a post, click the Instagram tab in platform customization to access these options:

Post type

Choose how your content appears on Instagram:

  • Feed Post — standard image/carousel post
  • Reels — short-form video (shown when video is attached)
  • Story — disappearing content
  • Trial Reel — test Reel with limited reach

The available options depend on whether you've attached images or video.

Caption

Write your caption with up to 2,200 characters. Hashtags count toward the character limit.

Alt text

Add alternative text to images for accessibility (up to 100 characters).

First comment

Schedule a first comment to be posted immediately after your post goes live. This is commonly used for:

  • Hashtag lists (keeps the caption clean)
  • Additional links or context
  • Engagement prompts

Tips

  • Put your hashtags in the first comment instead of the caption for a cleaner look
  • Instagram carousels (multiple images) tend to get higher engagement than single images
  • Reels under 90 seconds perform best — keep them short and engaging
  • Make sure your account is set to Professional or Business before trying to connect
